From June 16th to June 18th 2014, supply chain executives from across Europe will be gathering in Barcelona at the 16th annual European Supply Chain & Logistics Summit. This event provides logistics and supply chain managers the opportunity to learn from the best and benchmark current supply chain practices. It serves as a fantastic networking opportunity, and as a blogger, it allows me to pick up on all the major supply chain trends directly from the source, which is why I am excited to be a blogging partner for the event.
The 3-day schedule for the summit does not disappoint, and is filled with insightful workshops. One keynote on the schedule for Day 1 that really grabbed my attention is being delivered by Joan Carles Peiro from Nike and is titled: “Nike: A truly innovative supply chain journey.” As the title suggests, the presentation will address the role continuous innovation has played in Nike’s supply chain strategy.
One keynote on Day 2 that caught my eye will be held by Stephen Attenborough from Virgin Galactic and is titled “Overcoming Challenges of Galactic Proportions: Virgin Galactic’s Voyage into Space.” The presentation will focus on how one goes about planning for the seemingly impossible and will provide tips on how to navigate through business challenges in an innovative way. Also on Day 2, a top trend for 2014 will be addressed by Mitsubishi in their case study titled: “Realising a More Environmentally Sustainable Supply Chain.” To wrap-up Day 2, a panel discussion will be held by representatives from Procter & Gamble and the Port of Barcelona that will cover the topic “Supply Chain Trends: A 5 Year Perspective.”
A topic that has really come to the forefront over the last year will be covered first thing in the morning on Day 3: managing supply chain risk. Joan Manners-Bell from the World Economic Forum will talk about the increasing global supply chain risks and the importance of creating a resilient supply chain.
The workshops and keynotes I mentioned above represent just the a few highlights from an impressive line-up. As a blogging partner for the event, I want to write about the topics that interest you the most. Have a look at the full list of speakers and topics and let me know which topics spark your interest. I will do my best to attend as many insightful workshops and keynotes as possible, and I plan on bringing you a thorough summary of the event.
