Sony posts further losses
Despite higher sales numbers—an increase of 14% for the fiscal year—Sony is still reporting losses. This comes in light of the Japanese firm’s announcement in February 2014, that it was selling its personal computer division. This quarter, it has lost ¥138bn, yet it forecasts that worse is still to come, with a loss of ¥50bn predicted for the end of March 2015.

A further step in supply chain transparency
The World Bank Institute and Sedex Global have collaboratively created a free-to-use platform, which will allow companies and investors to investigate how responsible and sustainable suppliers’ supply chains are.
The founding of the platform indicates the increasing role of supply chain transparency. This is further exemplified, by the European Parliament’s announcement in April this year that large companies must make non-financial information available. Such available data includes a company’s sustainability efforts as well as human rights issues.

Google Glass available for all in the U.S.
The search engine giant revealed this week that it will make its futuristic spectacles available to the masses. According to its announcement, for the time being, anyone in the U.S. can purchase the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as they are available. Each device will be priced at $1,500.
